Top ranked light heavyweights Anthony “Lionheart” Smith and Magomed Ankalaev will square off at the main card of UFC 277 this Saturday. Ankalev rides a eight-fight win streak and comes into the bout with a win over former title challenger Thiago Santos.

However, “Lionheart” does not believe that his No. 4 ranked opponent has been in any real fights in the octagon.

“Man, he’s good, he really is. He doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. He’s never out of position, but I’m of the belief that Magomed Ankalaev has been in eighteen mixed martial arts competitions and zero fucking fights. So, Saturday night he’s going to be in a fight,” Smith said at the UFC 277 pre-fight press conference.

Anthony Smith will do his thing

No 5 ranked Smith has three straight wins, and believes that a victory on Saturday will give him another shot at the title.

“I’m going to go in there and do my thing. I can fairly confidently say we’re going to see Ankalaev in a way that we’ve never seen him before,” Smith said on Wednesday’s media day.

However, the Russian light heavyweight has another point of view.

“I think his time is over now, and I will show it on Saturday that his time has passed at this point,” Ankalaev replied at the pre-fight presser.
