Dan Ige är trött på folk som använder Victoria Lees död för att stödja konspirationsteorier.
”Give them freaking respect because that’s their tragedy”
Efter sin vinst på UFC Vegas 67 valde Hawaii-baserade Dan Ige att hedra den nyligen bortgångne Victoria Lee. Bara 18 år gammal, kom det chockerade beskedet om ONE-fighterns bortgång den 26 december. Ige, som känner storasyskonen Christian och Angela, berättade för Insider om sorgen han kände när nyheten nådde honom.
Give them freaking respect because that’s their tragedy. That’s their loss. It’s all of our losses.
Honestly, it’s super hard. I never knew Victoria. I know Christian, I know Angela, her husband, their dad, and when that news came out, a girl being so young, 18, with tons of potential and loved by so many, it’s just heartbreaking. That’s one of our own.
I samband med Lees bortgång började folk på internet att teoretisera kring dödsorsaken. Vissa påstod att COVID-19 vaccinet var osaken, medans andra menade att mental ohälsa låg bakom det. Till dessa ville Ige be om respekt för Victoria och hennes familj.
I just pray that people give [the Lee family] respect because, on social media, everyone wants to come up with the conspiracy [that] it was the vaccine, or was it mental health. Was it this? was it that? But whoever’s even coming up with these conspiracies, give them some respect. An 18-year-old passes, and they’re gonna mourn that for the rest of their lives. We’re gonna wake up Monday and read the newspaper and see what’s next. It’s an absolute tragedy.
Familj och vänner sörjer Victoria Lees bortgång
Både fighters och fans uttryckte sin sorg för den unge Lee. Systern Angela Lee laddade upp ett inlägg på sin Instagram där hon beskrev Victoria som den ”vackraste själen som någonsin levt”.
Andra som uttalade sig var ONE-presidenten Chatri Sityodtong, som på sin Facebook skrev:
I am heartbroken by Victoria Lee’s passing.
