UFC-fjäderviktaren Paddy Pimblett förnekar at than blir favoriserad av organisationen.
Paddy Pimblett anser att han vann rättvist mot Jared Gordon
En av de mest populära UFC-personlighterna under de senaste åren har varit Paddy Pimblett från Liverpool. Pimblett klev in i oktagonen med en redan etablerad fanskara från sin tid som mästare och stjärna i brittiska Cage Warriors. Med mycket hype kommer dock mycket press.
I sin senaste match tog 28-åringen sig an New York-sonen Jared Gordon i det som var tänkt att bli en actionfylld tillställning. I själva verket blev det en mer ljummen tillställning och med ett mycket mer oklart resultat än vad Pimbletts fans förväntat sig. Än värre var att en majoritet tycktes anse att Gordon vunnit matchen och blivit rånad av poängdomarna.
Gordon stod för en stark första rond och två av poängdomarna ansåg att amerikanen vunnit den sista ronden.
Pimblett har dock stått på sig mot kritikerna som ansett att han blivit skänkt segern.
Britten sade följande i en intervju med Bleacher Report:
I thought I won two rounds to one, and I watched the fight back, and I thought I won two rounds to one. I’ll be honest, it was a lot closer than I thought it was. I never dominated, but I think the only clear round in the whole fight is the second, and that’s for me. The third round, he just holds me. He doesn’t really do nothing.
Förstår inte hur folk kan påstå att han favoriseras
Pimblett slår framförallt tillbaka mot de som anser att han blivit favoriserad av UFC i och med att han är en fighter som organisationen lagt mycket tid på att promota. Pimblett vill nu skicka ett budskap till de som anser att han åtnjuter det som Tony Ferguson kallade “Dana White privilege” det vill saga att bli favoriserad av UFC-bossen:
People try to say, ‘Oh, it’s because he’s Dana’s boy. How am I Dana’s boy? He came on my podcast. I’m not his boy. I’m just a fighter on his roster. People say he influences judges. He can’t.
That’s got nothing to do with it. I thought I won. A lot of people in the crowd thought I won. When I’ve spoken to people, a lot have shared that with the commentary and stuff people thought that Jared Gordon won. But then, when they watched it back without the commentary on, they thought I won.
Just nu har Pimbletts återkomst ingen fast tidpunkt. Engelsmannen behövde nyligen operera sig för att reparera en skadad sena i vristen mot Gordon. I och med att hans seger var kontroversiell vill han dock gå en rematch mot amerikanen:
Yeah, I want to punch his head in toward the end of the year,” Pimblett said of the idea of fighting Gordon again. “I am going to run it back. I hope he beats Bobby Green, because I’ll snap his arm for him in a round. Had a boxing match with him and I still won, because you’re sh-t.
