Former UFC title contender Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero will face Melvin Manhoef in a light heavyweight fight at Bellator 285. The event takes place on Friday September 23 at 3 Arena in Dublin and features a lightweight main event between Benson Henderson and Peter Queally.

The clash with Manhoef will be 45-year-old Romero’s third in Bellator, all fights so far being in the light heavyweight division. However, the former UFC middleweight recently revealed that he will go down to 185 pounds next, in his quest of becoming Bellator double champion.

“My goals are still the same, my ambitions are still the same – become champion in both divisions. I’m fighting at 205 in this fight and after this fight, lose some weight and go down to 185 pounds. Resist a little more, not eat as much and go down to my old division, 185 pounds,” Romero said in a recent interview with MMA Junkie.
