Beneil Dariush hävdar att Dustin Poirier har nobbat honom vid två olika tillfällen gällande en fight.

UFC Austin äger rum inatt där Beneil Dariush (22-5) kommer att möta Arman Tsarukyan i en lättviktsmatch.
Dariush hade 8 segrar i rad innan han förlorade mot Charles Oliveira (34-9) i juni vid UFC 289.
Tsarukyan har stått för två segrar i sina senaste två matcher inför nattens gala där han besegrat Damir Ismagulov och Joaquim Silva (12-4).
När han pratade med reportrarna vid UFC Austins pre-fight presskonferens i onsdags berättade Dariush om sina försök att få till en match mot Dustin Poirier. Han sade då följande enligt BJPenn.com:
I’ve seen interviews with Dustin, and he’s not really interested in fighting me. I don’t get him excited, I guess, the way he puts it. My understanding is when Jon Jones got hurt, they were hoping to boost (UFC 295) up with Dustin Poirier and myself, and they called him and he wasn’t interested.
I believe they even tried for this date. This is what I was told. I’m not sure what he was told on his side, but they were also given the option to fight this date with me and he turned down both of them. That’s what I’ve been told.
Dariush sade avslutningsvis att han inte kan tvinga någon att fightas:
I can’t force a man to fight me. The opportunity to fight a guy like Dustin Poirier would be amazing because of his skills and what he’s done in this sport, but I understand his legacy and he wants certain types of fights, and he’s done what he’s done in this sport. If he wants to pick his fights at this point, all the best.
Även om Dariush skulle njuta av att få möta Poirier i buren så kommer han inte be om en match om inte denne är intresserad.
Den forne interimmästaren Poirier har två segrar och två förluster i sina senaste fyra matcher. Nyligen blev han besegrad av Gaethje i juli vid UFC 291. Poirier utmanade om det obestridda bältet efter att blivit interimmästare år 2019. Han förlorade då mot Khabib Nurmagomedov. Han utmanade sedan om bältet igen mot Charles Oliveira år 2021 men besegrade ännu en gång via rear-naked-choke.
