On Saturday, bitter rivals Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will square off for a third time inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. To make it even more interesting, Canelo’s complete set of super-middleweight belts are on the line.

To this point, the rivals have shared the ring for 24 rounds, with both previous fights going the distance. The first fight, back in September 2017, ended in a controversial split draw.

In the second meeting, in September 2018, Canelo stood as the winner by a majority decision. However, two months prior to the bout, the Mexican fighter failed a drug and was suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for six months.

Canelo needs to remaind the world of his greatness

In the third, and probably last fight, both pugilists are in desperate need of a win, for somewhat different reasons.

Kazakhstan’s Golovkin needs the win to avenge the controversial draw and the majority decision. Canelo, however, needs to remind the world of his greatness, after being beaten by Dmitry Bivol earlier this year.

The Mexican fighter will defend his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles before the audience at the T-Mobile arena, as well in front of boxing fans all over the world who stream the massive bout on DAZN.
