UFC-bossen Dana White gav en illavarslande kommentar om den tänkta matchen mellan Conor McGregor och Michael Chandler.
Dana White uttalar sig om Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor och Michael Chandler är tänkta att mötas senare i år som en epilog till den 31:a säsongen av The Ultimate Fighter. McGregor har dock inte fightats på två och lämnade till och med dopingtestpoolen och har då passat på att bygga på sig rejält för en potentiell welterviktssatsning. Irländaren kommer dock behöva genomgå 6 månader av tester innan han får fightas igen och irländaren har ännu inte ens omregistrerats för testpoolen. Detta gör att det börjat se osannolikt ut att McGregor och Chandler kommer mötas i år.
Efter helgens gala fick White frågan vid Post-fight presskonferensen om han är orolig för att matchen inte ens kommer äga rum. White sade då att han aldrig är riktigt oroad då allt verkar ordna sig till slut då UFC har så pass många fighters:
I never get concerned. We have a massive roster of people that want to come in and people that are ready to fight and people that want to be Conor McGregor. And be at that level. It’s like for the last 20 years everybody said, ‘Oh my God, what are you guys going to do when Chuck Liddell retires? You guys are f*cked. Oh my God. GSP. Anderson Silva. This and that.’ This is a professional sport. People come in here, they achieve great things and they retire. You can never worry about that type of stuff. It is what it is. It’s part of the game. And it’s my job and my team’s job to find new talent and build them.
Svårt att få McGregor att fightas
Dana White fortsatte med följande där han sade att även om McGregor verkar ha blivit taggad på att fightas igen så är det inte säkert att irländaren går en match inom den närmaste tiden då denne redan är så pass rik:
First of all, Conor called me a couple days ago and loved the first episode of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ and saying how happy he was to be a part of it. And I think being here and part of the environment and everything else, he felt it again and felt like he wants to get back to fight. The one thing you guys have to understand is this kid has so much money. It’s like Khabib now. These guys got sh*tloads of money and it’s hard to reel these guys in and get them to get in and fight.
Conor McGregor gick sin senaste match i juli 2021 när han avslutades av Dustin Poirier för andra raka gången det året. Denna gång kom det dock via ett otäckt benbrott
