Francis Ngannou anklagar UFC för att ha spelat ”smutsiga spel” för att hålla honom bunden till kontraktet och avslöjar en chockerande låg lön innan han blev mästare.

Ngannou hävdar att han hade kontraktsproblem med UFC långt innan han blev mästare eftersom han tydligt uttryckte att han ville slutföra sitt avtal för att kunna bli en fri agent. Trots detta påstår Ngannou att UFC aldrig erbjöd honom några matcher – trots att Dana White sa annorlunda – och höll honom på is i hopp om att han skulle behöva pengarna och till slut skriva på ett nytt avtal.
Ngannou sade följande vid the Dan Le Batard Show:
What I was asking at first is can I have a fight? I had an eight-fight contract and I wanted to fulfill that contract. But, they wouldn’t allow me because I wasn’t going to sign another. They knew if I fulfilled that contract I am automatically free. They used some dirty game there to freeze me out, they knew how much I was getting which wasn’t much at all, just a few pennies, so they knew to make a living out of it, I had to come back and accept those contracts. That was after the Junior dos Santos contract which was in June of 2019. Then, it was almost one year after that I had a fight…
My contract was exclusive so I didn’t have any other revenue and they were holding me captive to that. They were trying to act like I wanted more money, I didn’t want more money. If it was about more money I would have signed the contract because it was more money and more and more and more by the time I was at the end.
Avslöjar sin låga lön under tiden i UFC
Även om Francis Ngannou inte skrev på ett nytt kontrakt anser han att hans lön inte stod i proportion till hans popularitet och framgång. Han hade skrivit på sitt kontrakt långt innan han blev mästare, men trots att han var huvudattraktion i evenemang mot namnkunniga fighters som Curtis Blaydes, Junior dos Santos och Cain Velasquez, fick han bara 100 000 dollar per match.
Ngannou sade följande om lönen han fick per match:

Självklart fick Ngannou högre betalning när han blev mästare och hans kontrakt omvandlades till ett mästarkontrakt. Men under sina matcher mot Lewis, dos Santos, Velasquez, Blaydes och Rozenstruik tjänade Ngannou bara 100 000 dollar, vilket är anledningen till att han ville fullfölja sitt kontrakt.
Till slut lyckades Ngannou kämpa sig ur kontraktet och har nyligen skrivit på med PFL där han förväntas göra sin debut år 2024 efter att gått en lukrativ boxningsmatch senare i år. Inte bara Ngannou kommer få en hög lön vid matchen utan även hans motståndare som kommer minst få 2 miljoner dollar vilket ökar möjligheterna för organisationen att kontraktera en värdig motståndare till kamerunierns debut.
