Jon Jones’s coach, Brandon Gibson, is more than happy with the former light heavyweight’s transformation to a heavyweight powerhouse. In an interview with Submission Radio, the JacksonWink striking coach claimed that “Johnny Bones” basically hits harder than any other heavyweight he ever trained.

“He is hitting extremely hard and extremely accurate and technical, and fast,” Gibson said. “I’ve trained a lot of amazing heavyweights. I trained Arlovski and Overeem and Frank Mir and Travis Browne, and Jon Jones is more powerful, explosive, creative, dynamic than all of ‘em. So, I can’t wait to see Jon make that walk at heavyweight. It’s gonna be something truly, truly special, and I’m humbled to be a part of it.”

Jon Jones could face former champ Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones is rumored to make his octagon return at the end of the year. A potential matchup would be former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who’s been out of action since losing the belt to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March last year.

“Jon is hitting hard, and he’s so skilled right now. His skillset’s at an all-time high, and he has so much power and athleticism and stamina on top of it all. I think the fans are gonna be really, really shocked and surprised when they see him at heavyweight,” Gibson said.
