UFC-mästaren i lätt-tungvikt, Jamahal Hill, har gått till attack mot kritiker som anser att divisionen är den svagaste inom organisationen.

Jamahal Hill försvarar sin viktklass från kritiken

I början av året besegrade Hill Glover Teixeira och blev den nya kungen i lätt tungvikt. Det var en monumental uppgång för den 31-årige fightern, och en som få förutspådde skulle ske så snabbt.

Men bältet i divisionen har varit en het potatis sedan Jon Jones lämnade UFC, och fyra olika män har hållit bältet sedan dess. Just nu är Hill mannen att slå där Jiri Prochazka som den väntade nästa utmanaren.

Det är vanligt att höra fans och experter kalla lätt-tungviktsdivisionen svag, men det är något som Jamahal Hill inte håller med om.

Hill sade följande till MMA Junkie:

I think it’s an exciting time for the division. I’ve heard a lot of people say some s—t like, ‘The division is the weak division.’ That’s the dumbest s—t I ever heard. The logic that I’m hearing is it’s a weak division because anybody can beat anybody whether they’re one dude beating the s—t out of the entire division … that makes the division weaker. If we really think about that, that’s the dumbest s—t you’ve ever heard.

It just speaks to that level of greatness. That’s not a knock on the division. That’s just the level of that person that comes in at that time. When people say it, I’m like, ‘Bro, you really are stupid.’ I’m not even gonna sugarcoat it. I just have disregard for any intelligence you might have. Because you’re saying that a division is worse because it’s more competitive as opposed to one dude being leaps and bounds better than everybody else. That’s insane to me.

Hill har just nu fyra raka segrar i UFC där han innan titelerövringen avslutade Thiago Santos (TKO) och dessförinnan Johnny Walker (knockout).
