PFL Playoffs BeginFighter Magazine

The PFL returns to New York City with a playoff card headlined by MMA veteran  Lightweight Anthony Pettis. He faces Stevie Ray from Scotland in a rematch. Pettis defeated Irishman Myles Price with a first-round finish in his first Regular Season bout. Pettis seemed to be doing well in the original, regular season, fight against Ray before Ray locked up a highlight-reel submission via modified Twister. To get a shot at the 2022 PFL Lightweight World Title he will have to get past Ray despite his great placement at the top of the division ranks after the regular season.

The co-main event brings Josh Silveira, son of legendary MMA coach Conan Silveira, stepping into the SmartCage against fellow American Top Team member Omari Akhmedov Akhmedov has had a strong run, finishing both of his opponents placing him second in his division as he heads into the postseason as one of the favourites to take home the 2022 title. Silveira was a 2022 PFL Challenger Series competitor and impressively carries an undefeated record into his first Playoff fight. The former LFA middleweight and light heavyweight champion looks to add the coveted PFL title to his list of accomplishments.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier has done incredibly well and hopes to secure the advance to the finals tonight. OAM faces the ough challenger Alexander Martinez who earned a close decision win against the popular Clay Collard. Both fighters will be looking to move on to the 2022 PFL World Championship and the $1 million prize that goes with it.

Robert Wilkinson finished off both of his Regular Season opponents easily and secured the top spot in the Light Heavyweight division. He’ll square off with  Delan Monte who stopped 2019 Champion Emiliano Sordi in a striking first-round knockout which gave him his spot in the postseason. Wilkinson is the favourite, yet Monte is known to defy the odds.

The PFL states: The event will begin at 6 p.m. and feature fighters looking to secure a spot in the 2023 PFL Regular Season. Marcelo Nunes will face off with Dylan Potter at Heavyweight and Cory Hendricks will duel Marthin Hamlet at Light Heavyweight. Fighters competing after the main card will do so with a berth in the 2023 PFL Challenger Series on the line.

The fights can be watched on ViaPlay from 11.30 PM in Sweden. For country-specific times and channels, visit https://www.pflmma.com/watch.
