Khamzat Chimaev (12-0) har föreslagit en rematch mot Gilbert Burns i Brasilien och nu har denne svarat att han är villig att gå matchen i vilken viktklass som helst.

Burns och Chimaev drabbade samman i april. Treronderskriget blev utsedd till nattens match och underhållningen stärkte Burns aktier. Många hade dock trott att Chimaev skulle vinna mer överlägset än genom en enhällig domslutsseger.
Herrarna har visat ömsesidig respekt mot varandra efter matchen och har verkat intresserade av att mötas igen. Chimaev gick till och med ut i dagarna för att föreslå ett potentiellt möte i Brasilien:

Hoppas att Chimaev kan klara weltervikt
I juli erkände Chimaev för Ariel Hlewani i The MMA Hour att han ansåg sig ha fightats osmart mot Burns och att han gärna revanscherar sig för detta:
Gilbert Burns was like one of the guys — his style is so hard for me to fight because he’s short, he’s grappler, you know? I’m wrestler, I’m boxer, but my boxing is going better when it’s guys that are taller like me, not short,” Chimaev said. “But I took that fight, I won that fight, now I fight with that guy [Nate Diaz].
I hope one day I fight again with him. I was a little bit stupid in that fight, just going forward, I didn’t work my footwork, I didn’t show my boxing skills.
No, my coach [wants me to watch that fight]. I don’t want to watch. I want to fight.
Även om Burns sade sig vara villig att möta Chimaev i mellanvikt så sade den forne titelutmanaren till MMA Junkie att han hoppas Chimaev hittar ett sätt att kunna fortsätta fightas inom weltervikt:
I hope so. I know a lot of guys were celebrating that he’s going up. No, I want him to stay at 170. I think he can stay, just got to be disciplined, (but) it’s not just discipline. If you sign a contract and you put your name on it, you sign it, you gotta own it. You gotta be a man.
