Egis Klimas har meddelat att han kommer att överklaga resultatet från gårdagens match mellan lättviktsmästaren Devin Haney och utmanaren Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Vasiliy Lomachenkos team kommer överklaga förlusten
Under den efterföljande presskonferensen var den ukrainske managern Klimas synligt irriterad över vad som precis hade utspelat sig på MGM Grand. Haney hade tilldelats segern enhälligt domslut över sin 35-årige motståndare.
This is the biggest robbery.
For other team Christmas came in the summer and we’re not gonna let it go. I guarantee we’re gonna protest, I guarantee we’re gonna appeal that decision because somebody needs to end this injustice.
Those judges were scoring a completely insane score. It’s not acceptable. I guarantee we’re not gonna let it go. We’re gonna go all the way to the end. Maybe we’re not gonna win. Maybe it’s gonna be like it is, but we want to show what has to be justice.
Efter 12 ronder stod det klart att domarna gett poängkorten 115-113 (Tim Cheatham), 116-112 (Dave Moretti) och 115-113 (David Sutherland).
Beslutet möttes av ogillande från fansen i arenan och en uppenbar besvikelse från Lomachenko, som nu har ett rekord på 17-3 (11). Boxaren sade följande efter förlusten:
During all fight I control the fight.
I win this fight. Of course, for me it was a big surprise. I was sure I won this fight, but it is what it is.
Protesterade mot att Moretti skulle få döma
Domare Moretti gav Haney åtta av tolv ronder, inklusive fem av de sex sista rundorna. Klimas berättade efteråt att han protesterat mot att låta Moretti döma matchen:
I was the first [who] protested Dave Moretti to have as a judge. We protested that to [Nevada State Athletic] commission
The commissioner told he is one of my best judges and that proved today again!
